AMA Community Centre collaborated with PennyDrops from Carleton University to host a special financial literacy training for teenagers. PennyDrops is a nonprofit organization that provides courses on financial freedom, effective budgeting, mindful spending, and responsibility with using credit cards.

Our Youth Committee organized an event with PennyDrops in which 40 youth participated. During the interactive event the instructors covered all of these topics:

  • Learning how to save money and manage expenses in your youth
  • How taxes work at the federal and provincial level and when you need to start paying taxes
  • Understanding the basics of investing into different assets such as stocks and real estate

We understand the importance of investing resources into our youth to build their capacity so they can become contributing members of society. To support us in our journey we encourage you to donate to our joint-campaign with United Way to launch new youth programming in 2019 and beyond.
