Summer Achievement Program for Youth is Underway

In News by Ismail Hagi-Aden2 Comments

The AMA Summer Achievement Gap program is an extension of our ongoing after-school homework club which runs throughout the school year for vulnerable children.

While our homework club runs from October – May, the summer achievement program will run over the summer months into the early Fall. It will address the common issues parents face in which their children do not read, think, or study enough during their summer breaks and enter the following school year with reduced literacy and math skills, resulting in a learning loss.

The program will be offered for free to all participants and will provide 1 – 3 sessions/week during the summer. When the youth participate virtually in the program, they can interact with the youth coordinator/tutors to receive academic support and mentoring through fun & engaging learning opportunities. This includes book clubs, virtual field trips, math workshops, skills workshops, writing workshops, visual arts classes, poetry workshops, and related activities. This project is funded by United Way East Ontario.

If you have a child between 6 and 18 years of age who is interested in participating, please contact our team at info@amacentre.ca
