AMA hosted a special community iftar for elected officials, dignitaries, special guests, volunteers, and community members around the city. We had 200 guests in attendance who were delighted to be a part of this iftar which began with a multicultural showcase, remarks from dignitaries, a video highlighting our Centre’s activities over the past 12 months, and it ended off with a delicious iftar dinner.

It was a great event overall and the feedback from guests was overwhelmingly positive. We had remarks shared by MP David McGuinty, MPP John Fraser, City Councilor Diane Deans, City Councilor Riley Brockington, as well as Dr. Sahar Zohni, Project Manager & Patient/Family Engagement Lead with the CHEO Hospital.

To end off the night we presented two awards for two incredible people in our community. The first was the Lifetime Service Award to recognize a community member who has made a big impact in our City. That person is Br. Mohammed Azhar Ali Khan.

The second award was the Special Achievement Award given to Constable Abdulkadir Abdi for his work within the OPS, RCMP, and wider community.
