Community Appreciation Day

In News by Abid Jan

On Saturday, February 18, 2017 a Community Appreciation Event was held at the Mosque of Mercy to thank our neighbours and our fellow community members for their outpouring of support during the recent tragedy in Quebec City.

The recent tragedy in Quebec City followed by the outpouring and overwhelming support of Canadians from coast-to coast prompted the Mosque of Mercy to announce and organize a community appreciation day by opening its doors to our neighbours and all Ottawans.

On Saturday, February 18, 2017 a Community Appreciation Event was held at the Mosque of Mercy to thank our neighbours and our fellow community members. This will convey our gratitude and encourage a better understanding of the space, the people and the religion.

The event was a reaffirmation of AMA’s vision to involve the greater community by creating opportunities for interaction and engagement.¬† AMA holds great interest in implementing a community engagement vision that actively works to present the Mosque of Mercy as an open and inclusive space and well-integrated in the broader Canadian social mosaic.

This will convey our gratitude and encourage a better understanding of the space, the people and the religion. We were fortunate to have members from the federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government. We also had guests from Canadian Blood Services, the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, and the South East Community Health Centre.

It was a wonderful event and we are pleased to share a gallery below:
