As part of the Seniors Horizons Grant, AMA Community Centre organized a number of activities for seniors, the most popular of which was the inter-generational activity in which seniors and youth participated together.
During one of these recent activities we took over 50 participants to Omega Park (Parc Omega) to enjoy a wildlife experience where they got to see bison, moose, deer, wolves, foxes and much more! Furthermore, we paired the seniors with the youth throughout the activity so that both age groups could socialize with one another and form new bonds.
Activities like these benefit seniors as it helps them minimize isolation and build social cohesion. As for youth it gives them newfound perspective on life as they interact with their elders, learning from their decades of life experience.
